Suspension of planned meetings

Because of the COVID-19 emergency, Selby Civic Society announces the suspension all of their public and committee meetings that were scheduled to take place up to the end of June 2020.

This includes:

The Chris Cade "Signalman" meeting on 26th March in Portholme Church

The trip to the Tutankhamun Exhibition in London on 23rd April

The Cawood Dig meeting on 21st May in Portholme Church, and

The coach trip to Whitby Museum on 21st June.

Next Meeting on 21st November

The next meeting for members is the Annual General Meeting on Thursday 21st November.

It will be held in Selby Town Hall starting at 7.00pm.

Following the AGM at about 7.45pm the meeting - which is now open to the public - continues with a talk and film show about "1969 - That Was The Year That Was!"

Selby Civic Society 50th Anniversary Film Festival

Selby Civic Society has previously indicated its intention, as part of its 50th Anniversary celebrations, to hold a "1969 Film Festival & 'Then & Now' Exhibition." It's a pleasure to report that this two-day event, featuring four films released in 1969, has now been arranged by your Committee and will be held in Selby Town Hall over the weekend of Saturday and Sunday 29th - 30th June 2019 in collaboration with the Selby Globe Cinema.
